What Our Recessed & Architectural Lighting Installation Service Includes
Many Long Island colonials, capes, and split-levels were built without overhead ceiling fixtures in living rooms and bedrooms, relying instead on a single switched wall outlet.
We lay out symmetrical, glare-free recessed lighting grids using IC-rated airtight LED fixtures with selectable color temperatures (2700K–3000K warm white for living spaces, 3500K–4000K crisp task lighting for kitchens, gyms, and garages).
Every layout is laser-measured to align with ceiling joists, cabinetry, and furniture zones, and paired with flicker-free Lutron dimming or smart lighting controls.
Lighting Solutions We Design & Install
Thoughtful lighting design elevates both everyday comfort and property value:
- IC-rated ultra-thin wafer and deep-baffle architectural LED recessed lighting in rooms with no existing ceiling fixtures.
- Kitchen island pendants, under-cabinet LED tape lighting, and dining room chandelier installations.
- High-ceiling foyer chandelier lifts, fan-rated ceiling boxes, and exterior soffit/flood lighting.
- Lutron Caseta and RA3 smart dimmers, multi-location 3-way/4-way switching, and astronomical timer controls.
- Commercial showroom, office troffer, and exterior perimeter security lighting.
Our 4-Step Installation & Inspection Process
Every project is managed directly by founder Robert Neidecker from load calculation through final municipal underwriter sign-off.

Walkthrough & Scene Programming
We fine-tune color temperature switches and smart timer/dimmer settings with you on site.
Energy Code & Airtight Ceiling Standards
In top-floor ceilings beneath unconditioned attics, standard non-sealed recessed cans allow heated indoor air to escape into the attic, contributing to winter ice dams and summer cooling loss. We install IC-rated (Insulation Contact) airtight LED assemblies that preserve your thermal envelope.
For coastal South Shore exteriors, we specify wet-rated, corrosion-resistant fixtures and stainless mounting hardware that withstand salt air.
Long Island Standards We Enforce
- IC-rated airtight LED fixtures compliant with NY State Energy Conservation Construction Code.
- Clean fishing techniques that minimize plaster or drywall repair.
- Smart dimmer integration (Lutron, Leviton) with zero LED buzz or ghosting.
Lighting Installation — Frequently Asked Questions
- Can you install recessed lights in a ceiling that has no existing light fixture?
- Yes. That is one of our most common residential projects across Nassau County. We fish new wiring from the wall switch to the ceiling grid with minimal ceiling disturbance.
- What color temperature (Kelvin) is best for home recessed lighting?
- Most homeowners prefer 2700K or 3000K warm white for living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms, and 3000K or 3500K for kitchens, bathrooms, and home offices. Our fixtures include selectable Kelvin switches so you can see the exact tone in your room before we lock it in.
- Why do my existing LED lights flicker or buzz on a dimmer?
- Older leading-edge incandescent dimmers are incompatible with modern LED drivers. Replacing the switch with a modern LED-rated Lutron CL/LED+ dimmer and using quality fixtures eliminates buzzing and flickering.
- How many recessed lights do I need for a standard living room or kitchen?
- A typical 12x16 or 14x20 room uses 4 to 6 four-inch or six-inch recessed fixtures spaced proportionally from the walls and furniture layout, supplemented by accent or pendant lighting where needed.
